Satan wants your tongue! Why? Because your tongue is the programmer of your life. If he can get control of your tongue, he can get control of you and your future.
Have you noticed that when God created the universe, He used words? In other words, He “spoke” everything into existence. God said, “Let there be light” and there was light. In fact, throughout the first chapter of Genesis, we read over and over, “God said . . . And there was.” “God said . . . And there was.” “God said . . . And there was.”
When God said something, it came into existence.
Well, since we are made in God’s image, we function the same way. When we say something, it comes into existence. This makes the words we speak of utmost importance, wouldn’t you agree?
So, what words are you speaking? Are you speaking words that agree with God’s Word, or are you speaking words that agree with Satan? The Bible calls Satan “a liar and the father of lies” (John 8: 44). One definition of the verb “lie” is “to twist the truth”. Whenever we speak words that contradict what God says about us, we are twisting the truth and allowing ourselves to be used as tools of Satan. We are acting as tongue-twisters. Not a good thing!

Proverbs 18: 21 tells us that “Death and life are in the power of the tongue.” This means that with your tongue you can point your life toward death or toward life. Pretty heavy stuff! Which will it be for you?
As one who has struggled much in the area of the tongue, I humbly offer three suggestions that have helped me:
1–Think before you speak (Ecclesiastes 5: 2).
2–Choose your words carefully (Matthew 12: 36-37; Psalm 19: 14).
3–Ask the Lord to put a guard over your mouth (Psalm 141: 3).
Applying these three principles to your speech will radically transform your speech and help you to align it with God’s Word/
Remember: Your tongue is the programmer of your life. Make sure you program your life with God’s Word. Then watch your life become filled with life.
