At a Bible study this past weekend, we discussed the topic of commitment. Commitment is a major key to success in any area, but particularly in writing. The reason is that writing, like teaching, is a profession in which one doesn’t see fruit for a while–maybe a very long while–and sometimes never.
The one who knows she has been called to write must remain committed to the call, for in due season, she shall reap if she doesn’t give up (Galatians 6:9). Too often we give up when success is just around the corner. But the committed writer must never give up. She has a mandate from God Himself to write. Her only requirement is obedience with excellence. The rest is up to God.
If you have been wavering in your commitment to the cause of Christ, run to Him and ask Him for the fire of renewed commitment. Jesus made it through to the Resurrection because He remained committed to His goal. He never took His eyes off the goal.
So let’s not take our eyes off the goal that God has given us. Like Jesus, let’s set our faces like flint toward that goal, and let’s go for it with everything that is in us.
