Right Thinking = Right Writing

Proverbs 23:7 tells us that “as a man thinks, so is he”. Applied to writing, this verse could be paraphrased like this: “As a writer thinks, so writes he”.

When it comes to your writing, how do you think? Do you think success, growth, victory? Or do you allow the slightest setback to plunge you into thoughts of failure and defeat?

The writing life is farught with ups and downs. It requires patience, diligence, and a willingness to persevere when things look the bleakest.

Determine to be a right thinker. If you do, you will become a right writer.

  1. Hi Mary Ann –

I recently had a disappointment in my business. It’s tough and hurts a lot, but I have to focus on my source – the Lord.

So many times, I’ve experienced this type of situation. As the future unfolded, I realized God had something better for me down the road.

    Thanks for a timely post.

    Susan 🙂

  2. It’s hard to think success in my writing because it smacks of pride.

But if I’m called and equiped by God to write, I must change my thoughts. I must know in my heart I can do it. Then I have to get writing, working to improve myself, study the markets, be faithful to my writing schedule and allow God to have His way. There’s no pride in that, except maybe a righteous pride, giving God the glory and being thankful for His grace and mercy in trusting me with His message in all my books, articles or devos.
