I recently signed up for a Twitter account. Suddenly I found myself in a world of tweets that poured into my inbox (I guess that’s what one calls it 🙂 before I could catch my breath. Overwhelmed at first, I began to explore the terrain and, to my pleasant surprise, discovered a wealth of information not only about writing, but also about a host of other subjects that interest me.
Twitter is a form of social media that is not for the faint-hearted. But the good news is that you can control your presence on Twitter and utilize it for your purposes.
Some of the people I “follow” are those related to the publishing industry, to higher education, and to the coaching profession–all areas in which I work and am interested.
How about you? Are you on Twitter? If so, how do you effectively use this venue to build your writing platform?
Thanks so much for your comments and your encouragement, Carol. As you said, Twitter does seem more professionaly-oriented than Facebook. I’m discovering that little by little.
So glad you posted. I’ll look you up on Twitter and “follow” you. 🙂
Blessings,
MaryAnn

I was on Twitter for a while but then got off. I have since learned that you can screen your followers (that was why I got off), so I may give it another shot.
I am going to have to get you and Carol to share a tutorial so I can make the best use of it. I don’t want to add one more “thing to do” to an already busy schedule. 🙂 I’ve heard people raving over it, so I am thinking I need to check it out again!

Hi, Karen,
Thanks for your comments about Twitter. You’re right about having to watch our schedules. I think discipline is key in using any form of social media. Otherwise, it can be a major time-robber.
Hope all is well with you, dear friend!
Blessings,
MaryAnn
