Dear Writer Friends,
Here in New Jersey, as you well know, we were very hard hit by Hurricane Sandy. I lost electrical power and was unable to access the Internet. I am up and running now, praise the Lord, and request your prayers for all of those who have suffered loss.
Today I’d like to focus on a matter that is far more important than the business of writing but relates to it. That topic is hearing the voice of God in our circumstances.
There can be no question that God is trying to get the attention of New Jerseyans and Americans, in general. We are at a crossroads in our land where we must come to terms with our sin. We have continued in rebellion against God’s laws and thought that He wasn’t looking. But God is always looking. And not only looking but grieving deeply at our sin.
Have you ever considered that God weeps when we sin? Yes, we hurt His feelings when we sin. Why? Because in His infinite mercy, He gave Himself in the Person of Jesus Christ to free us from sin, but we have rejected this Great Gift. We have essentially spat in the Face of God and disparaged His Gift.
But God is also a God of justice. Time after time, He calls us to return to Him. If we refuse, we will experience the wages of our rebellion. It is not God Who punishes us. It is we ourselves who punish ourselves.
Will you join me today in repenting of personal sin and national sin? I believe we are on the verge of another great spiritual awakening in our country? But it will happen only when we repent and turn back to the Lord.
