Monday (Attitude): The Success Mindset

The mind is a powerful thing.  With the mind we think thoughts that will determine the course of our lives. Scripture tells us that as a man thinks, so is he (Proverbs 23:7 TLB).  By extrapolation, we could say that as a writer thinks, so will be her writing future.

Let’s take a look at some of the thoughts that a successful writer thinks:

1) I can succeed as a writer (Philippians 4:13).  The Word of God tells us that we can do all things through Christ.  Applied to your writing, this verse means that you can succeed as a writer.

2) I will persist until I prevail (Luke 18).  In Luke 18, we read of a persistent widow who did not give up until she got what she wanted. The writer who wants to be published does not give up until she gets published.

3) I will seek God’s wisdom regarding my writing (James 1:5). Writing requires wisdom. The successful writer knows that wisdom comes only from God, so she continually asks God for His wisdom.

Decide to think these thoughts about your writing career.  Speak them aloud so that your faith will grow as you hear your own voice declare these thoughts.  Scripture says that you shall decree a thing and it shall be established (Job 22:28).  So start decreeing what you want from your writing.  As you do, you will be developing the Success Mindset.

  1. MaryAnn: Yes, good advice and for many things. I will turn negativity into positive thinking, and my ‘mindest’ is to rely 100% on GOD.
    Thank you.
