Time was when a writer wrote and that’s all she did. Her publisher did the work of publishing and promoting her writing. With the amazing advances of modern technology, all that has changed. Today our writer must not only write, but she must also publish and promote her writing.
This change in scenario poses a major problem for our writer. She now has less time to write because she must now promote her writing. What’s more, she must learn how to promote her writing. In essence, she has taken on another full-time job in addition to her writing.
In the midst of this change, the concept of balance becomes more critical than ever. Balance is defined as “an even distribution of weight enabling someone or something to remain upright and steady.” For the writer, balance involves the ability to establish priorities in one’s life and distributing one’s time according to those priorities so that the writer remains steady in conducting his career.
How do you maintain balance between writing and taking care of the business of writing?
