So, what are your plans for 2015? Have you made any? Or are you one of those people who refuse to set goals so you won’t be disappointed if you fail to reach them?
If you are “one of those people,” let me encourage you. The fear of setting goals often stems from the fact that we know our weaknesses, and we know them all too well. We don’t trust ourselves to be disciplined enough to follow through on our goals.
But what if we didn’t depend on our own strength? What if we prayerfully set goals according to God’s agenda for us and then trusted Him to give us all we need to achieve them? That might really change things, right?
It’s the difference between depending on ourselves and depending on God. The difference between striving and rest.
This isn’t to say that we don’t have to do anything. It is to say, however, that we allow Holy Spirit to orchestrate what we do and we depend on Him to give us the power and strength to do it.
So, go ahead. Set some goals for 2015. As the end of the year rolls around again, you may be pleasantly surprised that you’ve achieved more than you’d hoped to achieve.
One thing is certain: If you don’t set any goals, you won’t achieve any. 🙂
