Hello and Happy Day! This is Dr. MaryAnn Diorio, your Virtual Life Coach, welcoming you to another episode of Winning with the Word. Today is Monday, March 23, 2020. Today’s Podcast is Episode #12 in Series 2020 and is titled “You Are Already Healed!”

With the Corona virus pandemic literally bringing the world to a stop, the topic of sickness is on the minds of the great majority of people on earth.

Except, perhaps, for those of us who follow Christ.

Sickness should not be on our minds. Healing and health should be on our minds.

Sadly, however, many Christians are facing the pandemic in the same way the world is facing it–with fear and dread. Brothers and sisters, this should not be!

When we were born again, we received not only forgiveness for our sins but also healing for our bodies. Both forgiveness and healing are in the Atonement of Christ. The stripes He took on His back were for our healing. First Peter 2: 24 testifies to this truth: “By the stripes of Jesus, you were healed.” When were we healed? When Jesus took those 39 stripes on His back. Interestingly, the medical profession groups all diseases into 39 categories. So, Jesus took a stripe on His back for each category and, thereby, for all diseases.

When we take Holy Communion, we are commemorating both the forgiveness of our sins and the healing of our bodies that Jesus earned for us through His death and resurrection. The wine represents His Blood which He shed to pay the price for our sins. The bread represents His Body which He gave to be beaten to pay the price for our sicknesses. This is the two-fold meaning of the Atonement.

Yet, despite Christ’s gift of total salvation, few Christians are partaking of it. Instead, they are needlessly bearing a burden that Jesus already bore for us. Why?

There are several reasons. I would like to touch upon only a few:

1. Healing is not being taught in our churches. The Bible teaches in Romans 10: 17 that “faith comes by hearing.” This means that faith in anything comes by hearing. Taken to its logical conclusion, whatever we hear often enough will engender faith in that which we hear.

So, if we constantly listen to reports and statistics about the devastation being caused by the Corona virus–or anything else, for that matter–we will begin to have faith in those negative reports. But if we constantly listen to the Word of God and His message of healing and health, we will begin to have faith in God’s report.

2. False teaching has been preached from some pulpits. Such false teaching includes messages like the following:

___Healing is not for today.
___God doesn’t heal everyone.
___God uses sickness to teach us.

All of these false teachings are contrary to what the Bible teaches, yet few Christians challenge them but simply swallow them hook, line, and sinker.

Well, it’s about time we realize that God says what He means and means what He says. When He says in Psalm 103: 3 that He heals all our diseases, He means He heals ALL our diseases. When He says in 1 Peter 2: 24 that we were healed by the stripes of Jesus, He means that we WERE healed by the stripes of Jesus.

Healing is a finished work. Before He gave up His last breath, Jesus said, “It is finished!” He meant that the work of salvation was finished. Done! Completed! There is nothing left for Jesus to do. It is now our job to appropriate to our own lives what Jesus did through His death and resurrection.

How do we appropriate the Atonement to our lives? By simply believing God. By simply trusting that what God has said is absolute truth, and then by acting on it in our own lives.

3. Christians don’t spend time studying and memorizing the Word for themselves. The only Scripture many Christians hear on a weekly basis is what they hear from their pastor on Sunday morning. In Philippians 2: 12, the Apostle Paul instructs us to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling. This means that we are not to depend primarily on our pastor to learn the Word. We are to study the Word for ourselves. If we ate as much physical food during a week as we eat of the Word, we would all starve to death.

Perhaps you have faith but you are still not experiencing healing. Then you may be struggling with unbelief. Unbelief is doubt that quenches any faith we already have. We can have faith and unbelief at the same time. This condition is like having two horses hitched together to a cart, but each horse is pulling in the opposite direction. Their respective efforts cancel each other out. When we have doubt along with faith, we get nothing.

We need to get rid of unbelief and have only faith in order to receive from God. And it doesn’t take much faith to receive from God. Jesus said that if we have only enough faith as the size of a mustard seed, we can move a mountain. But the problem is that our doubt and unbelief overshadow our faith, and then we remain at a stalemate.

Remember the dear man in Mark 9: 24 who fell at the feet of Jesus and exclaimed, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief”?  This man struggled with the same problem. He had faith, but he also had doubt. His doubt diluted his faith.

So, instead of trying to strengthen your faith, work on eliminating your doubt. How? By filing your mind with the things of God, not with the things of the world. Guard your heart carefully, for what is in your heart will determine the course of your life.

As a prime example, instead of listening continually to the negative news, listen to readings from the Bible. Listen to worship music. Listen to messages on faith and on your authority in Christ.

Finally, remember that God has already given us all that we need to live a full and holy life. Listen to what the Apostle Peter wrote in 2 Peter 1: 3: “God’s divine power has given us everything we need for life and for godliness. This power was given to us through knowledge of the one who called us by his own glory and integrity.”

Yes, God has given us all that we need to lead a victorious life. But if we choose to live by fear instead of faith, we will never experience God’s blessings in our lives.

It’s time to give up fear and take up faith. Perhaps, instead of bringing the world to a stop, the Corona virus will bring the world to its knees.

If you have not yet been born again, please pray this simple prayer with me to receive Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord, Only He can give you the abundant life that He died to give you.

Lord Jesus, I come to You just as I am. I need You to save me. I cannot save myself.  I repent of my sins and ask You to forgive me. I invite You into my life to be my Savior and my Lord. I thank You for receiving me. In Your Name I pray, believe, and receive. Amen.

Hello and Happy Day! This is Dr. MaryAnn Diorio, your Virtual Life Coach, welcoming you to another episode of Winning with the Word. Today is Monday, March 16, 2020. Today’s Podcast is Episode #11 in Series 2020 and is titled “The Dangers of the Enneagram.”

We live in an age of great delusion. Jesus prophesied that this would happen in the last days. When His disciples asked Him what would be the signs of the end times, His first words of response were, “Take heed that no one deceives you” (Matthew 24: 4). I find Christ’s initial response extremely telling.

The first sign Jesus gave of the endtimes was deception. He warned us that the last days would be characterized by great deception and great delusion. And He warned us to “take heed” against it. To take heed means “to guard ourselves against.”

Deception is the act of misleading in a wrong direction. Deception is the promulgation of a lie that will eventually lead to death, not only physically, but also morally, psychologically, intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually.

One of the signs of this great deception is the widespread infiltration into the Church of the Enneagram. Like yoga, the Enneagram has been “Christianized” to make it look innocuous. But it is far from innocuous!

Perhaps you have heard of the Enneagram, or perhaps you have used it yourself. But for those of you who have never heard of it, what is the Enneagram?

The Enneagram is a tool used to analyze one’s personality. It became popular in the corporate world in the 1990s, and from there spread rapidly to the mainstream world. Now, sad to say, it has even  infiltrated the Church!

The Enneagram is comprised of a diagram listing the numbers one to nine. The diagram has lines that connect each number to two other numbers. According to the Enneagram Institute, the nine numbers represent the so-called “nine divine forms” found in Gnostic teachings. Gnosticism, you may recall, was the heresy that the Apostle Paul refuted in the Book of Colossians. These nine forms of the Enneagram supposedly represent man’s perfect essence in unity with Divinity.

Under the guise of analyzing the personality for the purpose of better understanding oneself and others, the Enneagram at its core has as its purpose a spiritual awakening. Listen to what Marcia Montenegro, a former New Age astrologer who converted to Christianity, has to say about the Enneagram: “The Enneagram purports to lead a person to not only self-understanding, but to an integration of all aspects of the self and, ultimately, to an awakening to the true Self. ‘Self’ is capitalized because the Self is considered by the original (and most contemporary) Enneagram teachers to be divine.”

As with other things in life, we must look at the root to determine the fruit. The Enneagram has its roots in the occult. In other words, it has its roots in the demonic kingdom of Satan. Some of those roots can be traced back to mystic George Gurdjieff (1866?-1949) who was born around 1866 and lived until 1949. It is purported, although not proven, that Gurdjieff learned the Enneagram from the Sufis, a mystical subgroup of Islam.

Gurdjieff had two well-known followers–P. D. Ouspensky (1878-1947) and Oscar Ichazo (b. 1931)–who helped Gurdjieff to promote the use of the Enneagram. Gurdjieff taught that man cannot know true reality unless his consciousness is awakened. The Enneagram is a tool for awakening the consciousness.

One of Gurdjieff’s protegés was psychiatrist Oscar Ichazo. Ichazo, a heavy user of psychedelic drugs, stated that he had a spirit guide named Metatron who guided him and his followers.

With this background, it is shocking that so many Christians are now embracing the Enneagram. Yet, many Christians continue to promote it as an okay tool as long as it is Christianized. But I ask you, “Can one sanitize evil?”

So, what’s wrong with the Enneagram, and why is it dangerous?

As Marcia Montenegro writes: “A simple investigation into the Enneagram reveals that its theories of personality are based on esoteric teachings and an occult worldview. The clear origin and purpose of the Enneagram is to initiate a Gnostic spiritual awakening to one’s alleged true divine Self, which is in itself an occult initiation. This is the claim and goal of virtually all occult and New Age teachings. The purpose of such initiation is a shift in consciousness, a change in the way one views reality — God, the world, others, and self.”

We cannot justify an occult practice simply by slapping the label of “Christian” onto it. Yet, that is what the Church has done with yoga and now with the Enneagram. Church, it is time to wake up! You are being deceived, and deception will always lead to destruction and, if there is no repentance, even damnation.

If you have been using the Enneagram, repent now and stop using it. I caution you to open your eyes to this doctrine of devils. And, as Jesus commanded, be not deceived!

The only way to keep from deception is to develop an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ. If you do not yet have such a relationship, I invite you now to accept Jesus as your Savior and Lord.

Pray this simple prayer with me:

Lord Jesus, I come to You just as I am. I need You to save me. I cannot save myself.  I repent of my sins and ask You to forgive me. I invite You into my life to be my Savior and my Lord. I thank You for receiving me. In Your Name I pray, believe, and receive. Amen.

Hello and Happy Day! This is Dr. MaryAnn Diorio, your Virtual Life Coach, welcoming you to another episode of Winning with the Word. Today is Monday, February 10, 2020. Today’s Podcast is Episode #6 in Series 2020 and is titled “When the Heartache Is Unbearable”.

Years ago, I heard a speaker say something I have never forgotten. She said, “Treat everyone as though he has a broken heart, because he does.” Those poignant words were engraved upon my heart and totally transformed the way I looked at people. Those words, I believe, were what led me to become a Life Coach. And my experience as a coach during the past several years has proven over and over again the truth of the speaker’s words.

In one way or another, everyone has a broken heart. We can’t live long on this earth without experiencing something that will break our heart. A toddler’s heart might be broken because his mommy has to leave him for a few hours. Or, far more serious, a toddler’s heart might be broken by a mommy who has physically abused him or abandoned him. A teenager’s heart might be broken by unrequited love. A married man’s heart might be broken by a wife who leaves him. A middle-aged woman’s heart might be broken by the death of her mother or her father. Broken hearts are all too common and all too painful.

Heartache comes in many shapes and sizes, and no one is immune from it. Most of the time, we learn to cope with heartache. But sometimes, the heartache becomes unbearable. So, what do we do in such cases?

As always, the Bible, God’s manual for man, provides the answers. Let’s take a look at what this greatest book of all time has to say about heartache:

  • God knows our heartache. Not only does He know it; He wants to heal it. Acts 15: 8 tells us that “God knows people’s hearts.” God knows your heart, too, and He knows the depth of your suffering. He wants to take away the pain and replace it with His joy and peace.
  • God sent Jesus to comfort the broken-hearted. In Isaiah 61: 1, a verse quoted again by Jesus in Luke 4: 18, we read: “The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is upon me, for the LORD has . . . sent me to comfort the broken-hearted.” Jesus came to earth to comfort the broken-hearted. He wants to comfort you, too. Why? Because He loves you!
  • God heals our broken hearts, thereby removing the heartache. Psalm 147: 3 NLT says, “He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds.” Picture our loving Jesus, bandaging your broken heart as He restores it to wholeness.
  • God is near to you at all times, especially during times of deep heartache. The Bible tells us in Psalm 34: 18-19 that “The LORD is close to the brokenhearted; He rescues those whose spirits are crushed. The righteous person faces many troubles, but the LORD comes to the rescue each time.”  If you are broken-hearted, the LORD is close to You and wants to rescue you.  What an amazing promise!  Surely knowing this gives us hope to go on when we feel like giving up.

In order for Jesus to heal our broken heart, we must ask Him to. Jesus is a gentleman, and He will not force Himself upon you. But if you ask Him to heal your broken heart, He will jump at the opportunity to do so. That is the reason He came to earth, died for you, and rose from the dead for you–to heal not only your broken heart, but your broken body, and your broken spirit as well.  So, ask Him in faith to do what He came to do for you. He is not only able; He is also willing.

If you do not yet have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, I urge you to meet Him now. When you accept Him into your life, You will become a new creation. As such, you will begin to experience the abundant life which Jesus promised to give you. Just pray this simple prayer with me now:

Lord Jesus, I have a broken heart, and none of my attempts to fix it has worked. Only You can fix it, Lord. So I come to You now in my need, and I ask You to mend my broken heart. I receive You as my Savior and Lord. Make of me what You created me to be. Amen.

If you prayed this simple prayer, please write to me at drmaryann@maryanndiorio.com. I would like to send you a little booklet that will help you get started in your relationship with Jesus Christ. I also encourage you to get yourself a Bible and read it every day, starting in the Gospel of John, which is in the second half of the Bible. __________________________________________________________________

Parents frequently ask me for advice on how to raise their children. Frankly, I am somewhat surprised, since by no means do I consider myself an expert on parenting. I do, however, consider God the Expert par excellence on parenting.

As I was raising my children, I relied totally on God to direct me. There were many times I had absolutely no clue as to what I was doing. And there were even more times that I made mistakes–sometimes big ones. But there was one thing I always did right: I prayed!

And, oh, how I prayed!

Each night, as I checked on my children after they had fallen asleep, I would kneel down beside their beds, gently lay my hands on their precious heads, and pray this prayer: “Father God, please bridge the gap between the love my children needed today and the love they received.”

And then I trusted God to do just that.

And, do you know what? He did!

My daughters are now in their forties, and I can see the fruit of my daily, heartfelt prayer in their lives. They have become beautiful women of God who love Him and serve Him with all of their hearrt, soul, strength, and mind. And I owe it all to our Heavenly Father.

You see, when I first became a Christian a few years before my children were born, I discovered a promise to parents in the Bible. The promise is found in Proverbs 22: 6 KJV and says this: “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” The New Living translation states it like this: “Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it.”

As a young mother, I was trusting enough to believe that verse and to take God at His Word. My job was to learn what  “the right path” was and to teach it to my children.

And so I began a diligent study of the Bible. Whenever I learned a new principle of holy conduct, I taught it to my children. I taught them the Word morning, noon, and night, because the Bible instructed me to do so. Regarding God’s commandments, the Bible has this message for parents: “And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up. Tie them to your hands and wear them on your forehead as reminders. Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.”

And that’s what I did.

So, let’s break down these verses in Deuteronomy 6 and uncover the specific steps to wise and successful parenting:

1. Commit wholeheartedly to God’s commands. As parents, we must commit ourselves wholeheartedly to God’s commandments, If we aren’t serious about obeying God, we can’t teach our children to be serious. They will see right through our hypocrisy.

2. Repeat God’s commandments over and over to our children. We all know that children usually don’t get it the first time around. Nor the second! We have to repeat and repeat and repeat. The same is true of God’s commandments. Our children need to hear them over and over before those commandments begin to sink in.

3. Continually talk about God’s commandments. We must talk about God’s commandments when we are at home, in the car, or playing outside. We must talk about the Word at bedtime, and in the morning when our children first get up. When my children were just toddlers, I made up little songs for them based on Scripture verses. To this day, they remember those songs, and now I am teaching them to my grandchildren. The Word of God must continually be on our lips, and we must continually interject it into every situation in life.

4. Place reminders of God’s Word all around us. I used to post Scripture verses around the house–on plaques and post-its, on the kitchen table in our little Scripture breadbox, on the front door. I even bought a bracelet to wear with Scripture verses engraved on it so I could have them in front of me and teach them to my children. Wherever my children turned, there was something they could see to remind them of God’s Word.

Perhaps you are struggling as a parent. Perhaps you have a rebellious child, or a newborn and you worry about raising him right. Perhaps your heart is broken by a child who has gone astray.  Whatever the case, God’s promise to you still stands.

Begin today to pray for your child like never before. Ask God to bridge the gap between the love your child needed and the love he or she received. He will.

For you parents who are discouraged and hurting as you read or listen to this message, let me encourage you. In Psalm 23: 3, God promises to restore our souls. He will restore not only your child’s soul, but He will restore your soul as well. He will also restore your relationship with your child if that relationship has been damaged or destroyed.

And here’s another wonderful promise from God to you, found in Malachi 4: 6: “He will turn the hearts of the parents to their children, and the hearts of the children to their parents.”

As one parent to another, I can relate to your heart. I didn’t get everything right. In fact, I messed up more than I succeeded. But I made sure God was in my life to bridge the gap between my mistakes and what my children needed from me.

God says what He means and means what He says. Trust Him now. Believe that He will make all things new in the lives of your children. Only believe, and trust God to keep His promises.

He will!

I cannot leave you without telling you that what made all the difference in my parenting was my own personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Had I not had that relationship in my life, I would not have been able to tap into God’s infinite wisdom in the raising of my children. I am convinced that both my children and I would have had a really rough time of it without the Lord. Only He knows where all of us might have ended up. But thank God, I accepted Christ as my Savior and Lord before I had children so I could know where to turn in my times of need.

You, too, can have a sure place to turn when you face challenges raising your children. If you do not yet have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, start that relationship now. Just pray this simple prayer with me:

“Lord Jesus, I come to You just as I am and just where I am. I need help, not only for my own life but for raising my children. The problems are great, and I don’t know what to do. So I turn to You and invite You into my life. I receive You as my Savior and as the Lord of my life. Help me in this extremely important job called parenting. Make me the parent You created me to be. Make me the person You created me to be. Amen.

If you prayed this simple prayer, please write to me at drmaryann@maryanndiorio.com. I would like to send you a little booklet that will help you get started in your relationship with Jesus. I also encourage you to get yourself a Bible and read it every day, starting in the Gospel of John, which is in the second half of the Bible. Finally, ask the Lord to lead you to the church of His choice for you, where you can learn about Him and find fellowship and encouragement with other Christ-Followers.

What happened to the expression “Merry Christmas”?

Worse yet, what happened to Christmas?

In case you aren’t aware of it, there is an all-out war against Christmas. And this war is being waged by none other than Satan and his demon cohorts.

Time was when everybody loved Christmas—both Christians and non-Christians alike. Did you know that some of our most famous Christmas songs were written by non-Christians? For example, “White Christmas” was written by Irving Berlin, a Jew.  One of the writers of “Winter Wonderland,” Felix Bernard, was also a Jew.  Two other Jews, Sammy Cahn and Jute Styne, wrote “Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let it Snow.” And there are more.

So, why did these people–who did not even believe in Christ—love and respect Christmas? Because the general social consensus in those days was a Christian consensus. People as a whole respected the Judeo-Christian principles on which our country was founded. Morality was still important, and those who did not obey the Ten Commandments were punished, if not outright ostracized. Peer pressure in those days was in favor of righteousness—exactly opposite of what peer pressure is today.

Make no mistake about it. The movement to eliminate “Merry Christmas” from our vocabulary is intentional and perverse. You see, Satan still wants to be God. So, as always, he has instituted counterfeits to lure people away from truth.

Take Santa Claus, for instance. Who would dare denigrate Santa Claus, that kindly old man who brings gifts to children? Yet, Santa Claus has been a deceptive means of drawing people away from the true focus of Jesus Christ, the true and rightful focus of Christmas.

From our children’s infancy, my husband and I taught them that Christmas is about Jesus, not Santa Claus. One day, when I was shopping at the local mall, a kind lady came up to me and to my daughter, who was then a toddler in a stroller. The lady asked her what Santa Claus was going to bring her for Christmas. Confused by the question, my little girl looked at the lady and then looked at me and said, “Mommy, doesn’t she know the truth about Santa Claus?” You can imagine the expression on the dear lady’s face!

Some will protest that Santa Claus has his origins in St. Nicholas, a monk born toward the end of the third century, A.D. This is true. But the St. Nicholas of history is a far cry from the Santa Claus of today who has replaced Jesus as the center of Christmas.

Today, parents are criticized if they do not allow their children to go along with the Santa Claus myth. But what happens when children learn that parents did not tell them the truth about Santa Claus? Could this be a reason that, later on, children believe that their parents lied to them about Jesus, too?  A sobering thought!

You see, sometimes what we think is minor is really major.

The Holy Bible says that Satan presents himself as an “angel of light.” (2 Corinthians 11:14). This means that he uses things that look good to entice us into things that are evil. In 1 Peter 5: 8, Scripture commands us to be continually on the alert against his devices.

As we approach Christmas this week, let us remember that it’s all about Jesus Christ Who died for our sins when we ourselves should have died for them. Christmas is all about remembering the One Who loved us so much that He gave His very life so that we could spend eternity with Him.

Merry Christmas!
