Deception. It is all around us. Perhaps never in the history of the world has there been such pervasive deception. With the Internet and other means of high-technology communication at our disposal today, deception can spread like wildfire around the globe in a matter of minutes, if not seconds.
To deceive means “to mislead by a false appearance or statement” (Dictionary.com). Scripture reveals that Satan is the arch–deceiver. He is called “a liar and the father of lies” (John 8:44). His goal is to “steal, kill, and destroy” (John 10:10). In order to accomplish his goal, he uses deception.
From the first lie Satan spoke to our first parent Eve to the lies he speaks today, Satan’s tactics have not changed. He always asks the same question, “Did God really say?” (Genesis 3:1). In so doing, he attempts to plant a seed of doubt in our hearts as to the character of God. If Satan can get us to doubt God’s goodness, then Satan has us in the palm of his wicked hand.
What situation are you facing today where you are doubting God’s goodness and love for you? Are you sick and doubting that God wants to heal you? Are you broke and doubting that God wants to get you out of debt? Are you in a difficult marriage and thinking the only way out is divorce?
Whatever your situation, know this: GOD IS GOOD! He gives only good gifts. Nothing evil in your life has come from God. All evil comes from Satan.
Determine in your heart that you will never believe Satan’s lie. You will never question God’s goodness. You will look to His Word and find the answer for your every need.
God promises us only good. Choose to believe what He says. When you do, Satan’s power of deception will be driven out by Truth.
