Hello and Happy Day! This is Dr. MaryAnn Diorio, novelist and life coach, welcoming you to another episode of Winning with the Word. Today is Monday, July 26, 2021, and this is Episode #25 of Series 2021. This episode is titled “Are You Being Seduced?”

_______________________________

When we think of seduction, we usually think of sexual seduction. But sexual seduction is not the only type of seduction that Satan uses to steal, kill, and destroy.

This week I’d like us to take a look at the four chief types of seduction: the Seduction of Pleasure, the Seduction of Position, the Seduction of Possession, and the Seduction of Power. But first of all, let’s define the word seduction so that we will all be on the same page.

The word seduction comes from the Latin word, seductio, which means the act of leading or drawing aside. According to Noah Webster’s 1828 Dictionary, seduction is “the act of enticing from the path of duty.”

One reason I greatly appreciate Noah Webster’s Dictionary is that, when he defines a word, he often includes a Biblical allusion. As a Christian, he honored God’s Word. For example, in defining seduction, Noah Webster adds this admonition against it: “The best safeguard is principle, the love and purity of holiness, the fear of God and reverence for His commandments.”

Now that we’ve defined seduction, let’s take a look at the four chief categories or types of seduction. Most, if not all, forms of seduction will fall into these four categories.

1.___The Seduction of Pleasure. This is commonly known as sexual seduction and is a primary tool of Satan to destroy young people, single people, and married people. Women have powerful influence over men. At the same time, men are often clueless to the seductive wiles of women and can easily succumb to those wiles. Women have a great responsibility to be pure and holy in dress, in speech, in mannerisms, and in actions. Perhaps even more than men, a woman has within her the power to destroy or the power to build. Women, don’t take that power lightly. And men, be aware of that power in women.

Today, Satan is blatantly using sexual seduction to bring down families, churches, and institutions that should be the bedrocks of a moral society. Both men and women must be continually on guard against sexual seduction. So be alert to sexual seduction and flee from it. Remember 1 Peter chapter 5, verse 8: “Be alert and of sober mind.Your enemy the devil prowls around, like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.” Don’t be that someone!

2.___The Seduction of Position. We live in a status-sensitive culture. People jostle for position at work, in organizations, and, sad to say, even in the Church. Worldly position is not something to be desired. The only position we should desire is our position in Christ.

Scripture tells us that it is God who promotes. We read in Psalm 75: 7: “But God is the Judge; He puts down one and exalts another.” We also learn from Scripture that humility precedes promotion. In Matthew 23: 12, we read: “Whoever exalts himself shall be humbled; and whoever humbles himself shall be exalted.”

The ultimate purpose of any elevated position God may give us is to glorify Him and to establish His Kingdom. When we seek position for our own purposes, we put ourselves in spiritual danger. Promotion that comes from man can be taken away. But promotion that comes from God will last.

3.___The Seduction of Possession. Our culture is a money-hungry culture. We believe the lie that riches will offer us security and ensure a happy life. Yet, our riches could disappear in an instant. Already, we are seeing this happen as the cost of living soars and our banking system becomes unstable.

In Proverbs 23: 4 NLT, the Bible says, “Don’t wear yourself out trying to get rich.” Yet, how many of us do just that? We work long hours at multiple jobs. Why? To maintain a lifestyle that is robbing us of the more important things in life, like cultivating relationships with our spouses and children.

So, stop being seduced by the lie that possessions bring happiness. I know of no one on his deathbed who regretted not having had lots of possessions. But I do know of many on their deathbed who regretted not having nurtured their relationships with their spouses or their children.

4.___The Seduction of Power. Finally, we have the Seduction of Power. According to Webster, power is the “possession of control, authority, or influence over others.” What makes power good or evil is the way it is used. When those in authority recognize that they are servants, then they use their power for the good of those whom they serve. But when those in authority use their power to control or subjugate those under their authority, then they are being abusive.

Abuse of power can occur in the family, in organizations, and even in the Church. Whenever a person in authority uses that authority for his own gain and not for the good of those under his authority, then seduction of power occurs.

All of us must be on guard against being seduced by pleasure, position, possession, or power. Satan’s seduction is subtle. Those who are being seduced are blind to the seduction. Otherwise, they would not succumb to it.

Seduction will lead to death if not resisted. Ask God to give you discernment so that you will recognize seduction and flee from it.

The only way to avoid seduction is to know Jesus Christ. He is Truth, and Truth alone will keep us from seduction. If you do not yet know Jesus, I urge you to accept Him now. Don’t wait another minute! Jesus could return for His own at any moment. Don’t be left behind!

To receive Jesus Christ Who is Truth, pray this simple prayer with me now:

Lord Jesus, I need You to free me from seduction, to forgive me, and to save me.  So, I invite You into my life now.  I receive You as my personal Savior and the Lord of my life. Thank You for forgiving me and bringing me into Your family. Thank You for saving me. Thank You for giving me eternal life. I pray this in Your Name. Amen.

If you sincerely prayed this prayer, please write to me at drmaryann@maryanndiorio.com. I would like to send you a free e-booklet that will help you get started in your walk with Christ. I also encourage you to get yourself a Bible and read it every single day. The Bible is God’s love letter to you, His manual for your life. In the Bible, God reveals Who He is, and He teaches you how to live.

Finally, ask the Lord to lead you to the church of His choice for you where you can learn about Him and have fellowship and encouragement with other Christ-Followers. It is critically important in these last days to fellowship with other believers who are mature in Christ and who can guide you as you grow in Him.

THE IRON SAINT by MaryAnn Diorio, PhD

The Church in America is on the verge of a tremendous spiritual awakening, an awakening that will first be fueled by persecution unlike anything we have ever seen before in this land. Indeed, a prophetic word given in my home church during the month of November gave this warning to the Church: “Prepare for the fire of persecution!”

But the Church is not ready for this persecution. For the most part, the Church in America has been weak and lukewarm. Flabby and lazy. Consumed with the world and not with the things of God. As a result, the Church has been deceived and has subverted the divine order of things.

In THE IRON SAINT, Dr. MaryAnn Diorio seeks to help equip the saints for the work of true, integritous, and effective ministry. As a teacher in the Body of Christ, it is her burning desire to help correct this devastating error.

In THE IRON SAINT, Dr. Diorio has outlined a plan of action for strengthening the Church through uncompromising obedience to the Word of God. This plan of action is based on her own 50 years of walking with the Lord and being led by His Holy Spirit.

If you are a born-again believer and member of the Body of Christ, make this book a top reading priority.

Hello and Happy Day! This is Dr. MaryAnn Diorio, novelist and life coach, welcoming you to another episode of Winning with the Word. Today is April 26, 2021, and this is Episode #12 of Series 2021. This episode is titled “How Close Are We to the End?”

_______________________________

Any thinking person realizes that things are not what they used to be in this world. We not only sense that something isn’t right, but we wonder if things will ever return to normal.

Well, let me encourage you today. Not by promising you that things will return to normal, because I personally do not believe they will. But let me encourage you with the wonderful news that, no matter what happens in the world, if you follow Jesus Christ, you have a great future ahead of you!

You might be asking, “Dr. MaryAnn, how can you say such a thing? Is your head in the sand?”

No! Not at all. My head is very much above the sand. I’m continually looking around, observing current events, and comparing them with what the Bible says about our day. And, yes! The Bible has a lot to say about the day we’re living in.

Yes, the Bible. That ancient book that most people have never read. That ancient book that God gave us as our life manual. That ancient book that provides the answer to every situation we will ever face in life.

So, what does the Bible say about the days we are living in? The Bible says that when certain things begin to happen in our world, we can know that the return of Jesus Christ is near.

For those of you who do not know, Jesus Christ came to earth the first time two thousand years ago as a man in order to die for our sins, to rise again from the dead, and to restore man to God’s original intent for man. After Jesus accomplished His amazing victory over sin and death, He returned to Heaven for a time, promising that He would one day return for those who follow Him.

That return will take place in a cataclysmic event called the Rapture, which means an instantaneous “catching away” or removal from the earth of all of His true disciples. At the Rapture, Jesus will appear in the sky and take from the earth all those who are born again and follow Him. Only those who know Him will see Him. All others will be left behind to endure the most horrific period in human history known as the Tribulation.

In the past year, since Covid came on the scene, the world has had a small taste of what it will be like during the Tribulation. Our freedoms will be increasingly taken from us as the New World Order takes over the world. Here are some signs predicted in the Bible of what we would witness in the earth shortly before the Rapture:

1. Talk of “peace and security.” Hardly a single day goes by that we don’t hear or read the phrase “peace and security” or “peace and safety.”  Paul’s first letter to the Thessalonians, chapter 5, verse 3, says this: “For when they say, ‘Peace and safety!’ then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape.”

Pay particular attention to how many times you hear or read the phrase “peace and security” or “peace and safety” during your daily routine. You may be surprised.

2. Increasing lawlessness and violence. Matthew 24: 12 tells us that “because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold.” We are seeing that today. Division is increasing in society, families, and even churches. Everywhere we turn, there is discord, division, and destruction.

3. Talk of the Third Temple. In 2 Thessalonians 2: 1-4, the Bible says this: “Now concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered together to Him, we ask you, brothers, not to be easily disconcerted or alarmed by any sprit or message or letter seeing to be from us alleging that the Day of the Lord has already come. Let no one deceive you in any way for it will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness–the son of destruction–is revealed. He will oppose and exalt himself above every so-called god or object of worship. So he will seat himself in the temple of God, proclaiming himself to be God.”

If you go to the website TempleInstitute.org, you will discover that everything is ready to build the Third Temple. All garments and all utensils have been crafted and are ready to be put to use. Even the required red heifer has been bred for the first time in 2000 years. It is being said that the Jews could rebuild the temple in 90 days once they get permission to do so. Part of the upcoming peace treaty may very well include permission to the Jews to rebuild the Temple in exchange for the dividing of Jerusalem.

4. An exponential increase in strong delusion and deception. It is no secret that the world has gone crazy, and now even the Church seems to be going crazy. We have so-called pastors joining Planned Parenthood to support its agenda. We have so-called pastors supporting homosexuality and transgenderism. We have so-called Christians saying that right is wrong and wrong is right. Nearly every day we read of some so-called Christian blatantly and brazenly opposing God’s Word and calling it truth.

We are seeing the fulfillment of Romans 1: 28 KJV: “And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient.”  The New Living Translation says it like this: “Since they thought it foolish to acknowledge God, He abandoned them to their foolish thinking and let them do things that should never be done.”

“Reprobate” means depraved and foolish. A reprobate mind is a mind that can no longer think straight because it is separated from God Who is Truth.

5. The regathering of the Jews. The Bible speaks of this in Isaiah 11: 10-12: “In that day the Lord will reach out His hand a second time to bring back the remnant of His people–those who remain in Assyria and northern Egypt; in southern Egypt, Ethiopia and Elam; in Babylonia, Hamath, and all the distant coastlands. He will raise a flag among the nations and assemble the exiles of Israel. He will gather the scattered people of Judah from the ends of the earth.”

This Scripture began to be fulfilled when Israel became a nation in a single day on May 14, 1948. Isaiah 66: 8 NLT foretells this miraculous event: “Who has ever seen anything as strange as this? Who ever heard of such a thing? Has a nation ever been born in a single day? Has a country ever come forth in a mere moment?” Once Israel was established as a nation, Jews began returning to Israel since they now had a homeland to which to return.

Matthew 24: 34 states this: “This generation will not pass away until all these things take place.” What generation? The generation that saw the birth of Israel in a single day. This generation will not pass away until all the prophecies in Matthew 24 are fulfilled. How long is a generation? Biblically, a generation is between 40 and 80 years. This generation in which we now live–the generation that witnessed the birth of Israel in a single day–will be 73 years old on May 14th of this year of 2021 and will soon reach its 80th birthday in 2028. Does this mean that the Tribulation is at hand? I believe so.

6. A world without borders. A world without borders is a move toward a one-world order. It is a move toward the elimination of nationalism–in other words, the elimination of individual countries–and toward the establishment of one global community, While this may sound like a wonderful plan, it blatantly violates God’s Word.

The Lord established the nations, He says in Psalm 2: 8, “Ask of Me, and I will give you the nations for your inheritance.” Nations are God’s idea, and, as the Bible predicts, man’s attempt to abolish God’s idea will result in catastrophe.

7. The alignment of nations in the Middle East. Two significant events stand out here. First, we have the coalition forming among Russia, Turkey, and Iran. This coalition is preparing the way for the invasion of Israel by these three countries. The second significant event is the alignment of the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain with Israel in the Abraham Accords. It looks very probable that Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries will also sign the agreement. Scripture predicts that the Arab nations which, heretofore, were against Israel, would, in the last days, side with Israel.

8. A pope who, in some areas, defies the Word of God. In an attempt to promote a one-world religion, Pope Francis has repeatedly violated God’s Word by holding joint religious services with Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, and leaders from other false world religions. The Bible makes very clear in 2 Corinthians 6: 14 that light and darkness have no fellowship with each other. From all appearances, Pope Francis could be the False Prophet predicted in Revelation 16 who establishes a one-world-religion in the last days.

9. The current technological explosion that is preparing the way for the Mark of the Beast.  Some Bible scholars believe that the image of the beast in the Temple will be a construct of artificial intelligence or AI. At the 2020 World Economic Forum held in Davos, Switzerland, Professor Yuval Harari, Professor of History at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, gave a chilling talk on the advances of AI technology, some of them sinister from a Biblical point of view. You can listen for yourself on YouTube.

Revelation 13: 16-18 predicts this: “He [the AntiChrist] required everyone–small and great, rich and poor, free and slave–to be given a mark on the right hand or on the forehead, And no one could buy or sell anything without that mark, which was either the name of the beast or the number representing his name. Wisdom is needed here, Let the one with understanding solve the meaning of the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man. His number is 666.”

Already, we are seeing precursors of technology that could lead to the mark of the beast in Amazon’s recent introduction of Amazon One Palm, where one uses the palm of his hand to pay for a purchase. I went to Amazon’s website introducing the One Palm feature and read this (and I quote): “The first step is to insert your credit card. Next, hover your palm over the device and follow the prompts to associate that card with the unique palm signature being built for you by our computer vision technology in real time. You’ll have the option to enroll with just one palm or both. And that’s it–you’re now signed up.”

Bottom line, the world is being programmed to submit to the New World Order.
__________________________________

If we have eyes to see and ears to hear, we can discern that Amazon One Palm is programming the world to receive the mark of the beast. The mark of the beast will be required in order to buy or sell. We are already seeing glimpses of this future restriction in the so-called “vaccine passport” where people are prohibited from traveling unless they have been vaccinated.

The mark of the beast will eventually be something in the hand or forehead–possibly a computer chip–that will contain all of one’s identifying data, including medical and personal, and will mark one as as having given allegiance to the beast who, of course, is the AntiChrist or Satan personified. According to the Bible, those who give allegiance to the AntiChrist will be doomed to Hell forever. This truth is foretold in Revelation 20: 15 NLT: “And anyone whose name was not found recorded in the Book of Life was thrown into the lake of fire.”

You may be thinking, “Dr. MaryAnn, aren’t you going a bit too far?” I would say to you, ‘Don’t take my word for it. Do your own homework. Study the Bible and compare what is predicted in the Bible with what you read in the daily newspaper headlines, with what you hear on the news, and with what you see before your very eyes.

Bottom line, the world is being programmed to submit to the New World Order, and the globalists are using fear to further their agenda of subduing the entire world. When man fears, he allows what he fears to rob him of his freedom. In the case of our world now, man fears Covid 19, and he is allowing his fear of Covid to plunge him into tyranny.

Jesus said this in Matthew 11: 15: “He who has ears to hear, let him hear!” The New Living Translation translates Jesus’ words as follows: “Anyone with ears to hear should listen and understand!”

Do you have ears to hear? If not, I urge you to sharpen your hearing by studying the Holy Bible.

What is happening in the United States today closely parallels what happened in Nazi Germany in the 1930s. The New World Order is taking over our nation under the guise of Covid fear and the Great Reset. If America does not repent and turn back to God, there is no hope for our nation to survive.

I say all of this not to spread doom and gloom but to alert the Church to be ready for persecution. Despite the evil around us, we can have hope because all of these signs of the times remind us that our redemption is drawing near. And that gives us great cause for rejoicing. It is very exciting to think that we may be the generation that sees the Lord’s Glorious Appearing in the sky to remove His followers from the earth.

But we must occupy until our Lord comes. We must tell others that only Jesus Christ saves, that only Jesus Christ heals, that only Jesus Christ sets people free.

If you have not yet accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord, I urge you to do so now. He is coming back soon for those of us who follow Him. Those who do not follow Him will be left behind to go through the worst time in human history, a seven-year period of horror the Bible calls the Tribulation. Do not be one of those left behind. Accept Jesus Christ now!

Just pray this simple prayer with me:

Lord Jesus, I need You to save me. I am a sinner in need of Your mercy and grace. I ask You now to come into my life. I receive You as my personal Savior and the Lord of my life. Forgive me of my sin. Thank You for welcoming me into Your family. In Your Name, I pray. Amen.

If you prayed this prayer sincerely, please write to me at drmaryann@maryanndiorio.com.

It is critically important in these last days to fellowship with other believers who are mature in Christ and can guide you as you grow in Him.

Featured Book of the Week:  THE IRON SAINT by MaryAnn Diorio, PhD

Today is March 29, 2021, and this is Episode #8 of Series 2021. This episode is titled “Are You Being Deceived?”

_______________________________

Nearly every day someone says to me, “I’m so confused. I don’t know whom or what to believe any more.” Does this sound like you? If so, then listen up. Deception is rampant today and is destroying many people.

What is deception? Deception is believing that something false is true or that something true is false. The Greek word meaning deception is the same word used to mean roaming or wandering around. This Greek definition implies that a deceived person has gone off course from the truth and is wandering around.

Deception occurs through seduction. One is seduced–or drawn away from the truth–through deception. The dangerous thing about deception is that the deceived person does not know he is deceived. If he did know he was deceived, he would no longer be deceived.

In other words, deception hides itself from its victim.

Deception takes a truth and manipulates it by taking something away from it or by adding something to it. The result is a falsehood that sounds true or logical or even loving. But it is false, nonetheless.

When we believe that something false is true, we fall into bondage. Deception carries within it a hook that catches us when we believe the deception. This hook is one of the ways Satan draws us from truth.

The Bible warns us in several places not to be deceived. One such major warning given by Jesus Himself is found in Matthew 24: 3-13. In this passage, the disciples asked Jesus what would be the signs of the end times. Let’s listen in on this conversation. and hear how Jesus replied to the disciples’ questions:

“While Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately. ‘Tell us,’ they said, ‘when will these things happen, and what will be the sign of Your coming and of the end of the age?’ Jesus answered, ‘See to it that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, claiming, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. These things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains.”

I find it extremely significant that the first sign Jesus gave as to what would signal the last days was the sign of deception. Now, in order to be theologically balanced, what Jesus described in Matthew 24 are events that have happened throughout history. There have been wars and rumors of wars throughout history. There have been nations rising against nations throughout history. There have been famines and earthquakes throughout history. There has been deception throughout history.

But, what is different about our day is that all of these things that Jesus mentioned are converging. In other words, they are all happening with greater and greater intensity, and they are all happening at the same time, just as the birth pains and contractions of a woman in labor increase in intensity and begin to happen all at the same time until she gives birth.

Jesus Himself spoke of the convergence of events in Matthew 24: 33 when He said, “When you see all these things, you can know My return is near. I’m right at the door.” Again in Luke 21: 28, Jesus said, “When all these things begin to happen, look up for your salvation is near!” In other words, when these things–famines, earthquakes, wars and rumors of wars–are all happening together, at the same time, then our Lord’s return is imminent.

So, the number one sign that Jesus’ return is imminent is that all of the signs He mentioned in Matthew 24 are now happening at the same time.

We are witnessing these signs occurring all at the same time right before our very eyes. In a single day we hear of many who are calling themselves Christ; in a single day we hear of wars and rumors of wars, of nation rising against nation; in a single day, we hear of famines and earthquakes and plagues in various places. All at the same time!

Deception is rampant today and is wreaking havoc not only in the world but, most importantly for us, in the Church. Some segments of the Church are siding with the world because they are deceived. Never have we needed discernment as much as we do now.

So, how can we avoid deception? How can we sort out truth from error?

Before we look at how to avoid deception, let’s take a look at how we get deceived in the first place. Here are five ways:

1. Through disobeying the Word of God. In James 1: 22, the Bible gives us this command: “Be doers of the Word, and not hearers only. Otherwise you are deceiving yourselves.” When we hear God’s Word but do not obey it, we open ourselves up to deception.

2. Through elevating and following Christian leaders instead of following Christ. Many Christians today do not consult their Bible for answers to their problems. Instead, they follow the teachings of popular Christian celebrities. We must be like the Bereans who did not even trust Paul’s teaching even though he was Paul, the great Apostle. No. In Acts 17: 11, we read that the Bereans searched the Scriptures for themselves to determine if what Paul was teaching them was true.

Notice that the Bereans searched the Bible. They didn’t just casually read it. They dug into it. The examined it daily. Every day. Not just once in a while. Why did they search the Scriptures? To find out if what Paul was teaching them was true. The Bereans were open to learning the truth, but they wanted to be sure it was the truth they were learning.

We need to be like the Bereans. We must always scrutinize what we are being taught and measure it by the Word of God.

3. Through exalting the self. This is another way we are deceived. In 1 Timothy 4: 1, the Word says this: “In the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils.”  It sounds so good to talk about human potential, motivational training, etc. After all, these concepts and their tools simply help us to become better people. And what’s wrong with that?

What’s wrong with it is that exalting the self–which is called, Selfism–contracts the Word. Jesus says that we must die to the self, not exalt it. We must live in Him and for Him, not for ourselves.

Many of these types of self-help programs are being used in corporate America and in our educational system to train employees and students. We hear of sensitivity training, anti-harassment training, diversity training, and other types of training programs that are, in truth, subtle venues for promoting agendas contrary to God’s Word.

Another deception that has infiltrated our culture, and even the Church, is ancient mysticism. This deception has entered surreptitiously via psychology, mysticism, and self-improvement programs. One of the latest is the popularity of the Enneagram, a tool for determining one’s personality. Sadly, this tool is now being widely used in the Church. The Enneagram purports to help a person achieve spiritual liberation through its use. This concept blatantly contradicts God’s Word that says we achieve spiritual liberation only through being born again in Christ.

Yoga is another deception in the Church. It is called Christian Yoga. This is an oxymoron because Scripture teaches that light cannot have fellowship with darkness (See 2 Corinthians 6: 14). Some churches even hold yoga classes in their buildings.

Satan simply takes old lies and puts them in new packages to fit our contemporary culture. So, beware!

4. Through conflating truth and error. Confusion is paramount today. The message of the Church and the message of the world are conflating, resulting in the sad truth that the Church is becoming indistinguishable from the world. Books by so-called Christian authors can now be found in both Christian bookstores and New Age/Occult bookstores at the same time. Such books teach that humans evolutionary lies of achieving godhood through Eastern mysticism and meditation are the truth. Mysticism and the Contemplative Movement are being touted as viable avenues to God. The New Apostolic Reformation, known as the NAR, is promoting the lie that Christ will not return until the Church has ushered in HIs Kingdom through the Seven-Mountain Mandate. This Seven-Mountain Mandate involves taking dominion over the seven key areas of culture: Government & the Military, Education, Economics, Religion, Business, Arts & Entertainment, and the Media.

5. Through being unequally yoked. Another way we become deceived is through forming connections with people or organizations whose tenets are contrary to Christianity but who share certain values with Christianity. As an example, some Christian organizations have joined with non-Christian organizations that share traditional family values. Another example would be the Pope. He has called together the various heads of world religions to join with him in bringing peace to the world. All of these mergers, so to speak, are ushering in the one-world religion which is part of the New World Order.

So, how can we avoid deception?

1. Know God’s Word. If we do not thoroughly know God’s Word, we will be susceptible to deception. The Word of God is our plumb line. It keeps us facing True North. The Word is our daily bread. Jesus said this in Matthew 4: 4:”Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.”

We need to feed on God’s Word every day. We need not only to read it, but also to study it, to meditate on it, to hear it, to speak it.

2. Obey God’s Word. In James 1: 22, we read “But be doers of the Word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.” Hearing the Word is not enough. We must also obey it.

3. Guard your heart. Deception begins in the heart. When we follow our own will instead of God’s will, we open the door for deception to enter our hearts. Proverbs 4: 23 warns us to guard our hearts above all else for what is in our hearts will determine the entire course of our lives.

Any one of else can be deceived in our hearts. James 1: 26 speaks to this: “If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not bridle his tongue, he deceives his heart and his religion is worthless.”

Our hearts can be deceived by many things, including pride, greed, unforgiveness, and offense. All of these sins open the door to deception.

Another reason for guarding our hearts is that, if we don’t, others can deceive us. And we can deceive ourselves. So guard your heart above everything else.

4. Stay in right relationship with God and man. In order to avoid deception, we must stay in right relationship with the right people. God created us for relationship. First, relationship with Himself and then relationship with others, especially those in the Body of Christ. One vital purpose of the Body of Christ is to protect us from deception. In Proverbs 27: 17, we learn this: “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.”

If we stay in constant communion with the Lord and with His Body, we will not be deceived. We will remain sensitive to His voice and to the leading of His Holy Spirit. Fellowship with the Body of Christ keeps us accountable. It keeps us alert to error. To stray from the Body of Christ is to court the danger of deception and many other dangers. Being alone makes us an easy target for the enemy. Soldiers in training are always taught never to go it alone.

5. Stay humble. In the days ahead, deception will increase. It is a sign of the end of the age. We will also see an increase in signs, wonders, and miracles rooted in deception. For this reason, we must pray for discernment. And we must stay humble.

We must never think that we are too wise or too smart or too sophisticated to be deceived. The instant we think we cannot fall into deception is the instant that we are in the gravest danger of falling into deception. Jesus commanded us to be wise as serpents, but harmless as doves.

Bottomline, the starting point for avoiding deception is to accept Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord. When we do, we will be born again and receive a new spirit capable of discerning between truth and falsehood.

If you have not yet accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord, I urge you to do so now. He will guard you from deception and preserve you until the day of His return, which, my friend, is very, very soon. Pray this simple prayer with me now:

Lord Jesus, I want to be free of all deception. I want to be free of every lie that has kept me in bondage. But You are the only One Who can set me free. So, I ask You now to come into my life. I receive You as my personal Savior and the Lord of my life. Rescue me from myself and from my sin. Forgive me. Make me what You created me to be. In Your Precious Name, I pray. Amen.

If you prayed this prayer sincerely, please write to me at drmaryann@maryanndiorio.com.

It is critically important in these last days to fellowship with other believers who are mature in Christ and can guide you as you grow in Him.

______________________________________________

Hello and Happy Day! This is Dr. MaryAnn Diorio, your Virtual Life Coach, welcoming you to another episode of Winning with the Word. Today is Monday, March 16, 2020. Today’s Podcast is Episode #11 in Series 2020 and is titled “The Dangers of the Enneagram.”

We live in an age of great delusion. Jesus prophesied that this would happen in the last days. When His disciples asked Him what would be the signs of the end times, His first words of response were, “Take heed that no one deceives you” (Matthew 24: 4). I find Christ’s initial response extremely telling.

The first sign Jesus gave of the endtimes was deception. He warned us that the last days would be characterized by great deception and great delusion. And He warned us to “take heed” against it. To take heed means “to guard ourselves against.”

Deception is the act of misleading in a wrong direction. Deception is the promulgation of a lie that will eventually lead to death, not only physically, but also morally, psychologically, intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually.

One of the signs of this great deception is the widespread infiltration into the Church of the Enneagram. Like yoga, the Enneagram has been “Christianized” to make it look innocuous. But it is far from innocuous!

Perhaps you have heard of the Enneagram, or perhaps you have used it yourself. But for those of you who have never heard of it, what is the Enneagram?

The Enneagram is a tool used to analyze one’s personality. It became popular in the corporate world in the 1990s, and from there spread rapidly to the mainstream world. Now, sad to say, it has even  infiltrated the Church!

The Enneagram is comprised of a diagram listing the numbers one to nine. The diagram has lines that connect each number to two other numbers. According to the Enneagram Institute, the nine numbers represent the so-called “nine divine forms” found in Gnostic teachings. Gnosticism, you may recall, was the heresy that the Apostle Paul refuted in the Book of Colossians. These nine forms of the Enneagram supposedly represent man’s perfect essence in unity with Divinity.

Under the guise of analyzing the personality for the purpose of better understanding oneself and others, the Enneagram at its core has as its purpose a spiritual awakening. Listen to what Marcia Montenegro, a former New Age astrologer who converted to Christianity, has to say about the Enneagram: “The Enneagram purports to lead a person to not only self-understanding, but to an integration of all aspects of the self and, ultimately, to an awakening to the true Self. ‘Self’ is capitalized because the Self is considered by the original (and most contemporary) Enneagram teachers to be divine.”

As with other things in life, we must look at the root to determine the fruit. The Enneagram has its roots in the occult. In other words, it has its roots in the demonic kingdom of Satan. Some of those roots can be traced back to mystic George Gurdjieff (1866?-1949) who was born around 1866 and lived until 1949. It is purported, although not proven, that Gurdjieff learned the Enneagram from the Sufis, a mystical subgroup of Islam.

Gurdjieff had two well-known followers–P. D. Ouspensky (1878-1947) and Oscar Ichazo (b. 1931)–who helped Gurdjieff to promote the use of the Enneagram. Gurdjieff taught that man cannot know true reality unless his consciousness is awakened. The Enneagram is a tool for awakening the consciousness.

One of Gurdjieff’s protegés was psychiatrist Oscar Ichazo. Ichazo, a heavy user of psychedelic drugs, stated that he had a spirit guide named Metatron who guided him and his followers.

With this background, it is shocking that so many Christians are now embracing the Enneagram. Yet, many Christians continue to promote it as an okay tool as long as it is Christianized. But I ask you, “Can one sanitize evil?”

So, what’s wrong with the Enneagram, and why is it dangerous?

As Marcia Montenegro writes: “A simple investigation into the Enneagram reveals that its theories of personality are based on esoteric teachings and an occult worldview. The clear origin and purpose of the Enneagram is to initiate a Gnostic spiritual awakening to one’s alleged true divine Self, which is in itself an occult initiation. This is the claim and goal of virtually all occult and New Age teachings. The purpose of such initiation is a shift in consciousness, a change in the way one views reality — God, the world, others, and self.”

We cannot justify an occult practice simply by slapping the label of “Christian” onto it. Yet, that is what the Church has done with yoga and now with the Enneagram. Church, it is time to wake up! You are being deceived, and deception will always lead to destruction and, if there is no repentance, even damnation.

If you have been using the Enneagram, repent now and stop using it. I caution you to open your eyes to this doctrine of devils. And, as Jesus commanded, be not deceived!

The only way to keep from deception is to develop an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ. If you do not yet have such a relationship, I invite you now to accept Jesus as your Savior and Lord.

Pray this simple prayer with me:

Lord Jesus, I come to You just as I am. I need You to save me. I cannot save myself.  I repent of my sins and ask You to forgive me. I invite You into my life to be my Savior and my Lord. I thank You for receiving me. In Your Name I pray, believe, and receive. Amen.

If you prayed this simple prayer, please write to me at drmaryann@maryanndiorio.com. I would like to send you a little booklet that will help you get started in your relationship with Jesus Christ. I also encourage you to get yourself a Bible and read it every day, starting in the Gospel of John, which is in the second half of the Bible. Finally, ask the Lord to lead you to the church of His choice for you where you can learn about Him and find fellowship and encouragement with other Christ-Followers.

In case you haven’t noticed, there’s been a major shift in the direction of the Church in recent years. The Body of Christ as a whole has moved from the original church founded by Christ to a “seeker-sensitive” church founded by man. The result is a spiritual and cultural phenomenon known as the “Emergent Church” — a phenomenon fraught with deception and heresy and jeopardizing the spiritual destiny of Christians throughout the world.

So, what is all the ruckus about, and why should we be concerned?

We should be concerned for a number of reasons, not the least of which is that the emergent church is fast turning into the Apostate Church that will lead to the one-world religion of the end days. We are already witnessing the formation of this one-world religion.

How can we know, then, if our church is an apostate church and not an apostolic one? First of all, let’s define our terms. An apostolic church is a church that adheres to the doctrines of the early, first-century Church as founded by the Apostles. These doctrines are explained in the New Testament, and their application is found primarily in the Book of Acts.

The Apostate Church, on the other hand, has moved away from these foundational doctrines to an experience-based theology that deifies feelings. This new way of “doing church” promotes experience over truth by shifting the focus of its members from the Cross of Christ to personal experience.

“What fellowship has light with darkness?” ~ 2 Corinthians 6: 14 NASB

So, what questions should you ask to determine if you are in an apostate church or an apostolic church? (By the way, it is critically important to ask these questions).  Here are some extremely important ones:

1__Does your church teach that Absolute Truth exists, or does your church teach that everyone has his own truth? The Apostate Church teaches relativism: what’s true for you doesn’t necessarily have to be true for me, and vice versa. The true Church teaches that there is such a thing as Absolute Truth and that relativism is a doctrine of devils.

2__Does your Church teach that the Bible is the final authority in life, or does it teach that Scripture evolves with the times? The Apostate Church teaches that the Church must adapt to today’s culture. It attempts to build the Church according to the world’s ways, hiring consultants from corporate America to build the Church like a corporation. We now have offices like Executive Pastor, Pastor of Communications, Pastor of Church Growth, etc. Moreover, we now see churches employing worldly methods of growth that utilize marketing gimmicks instead of teaching its members how to receive the power available through the Baptism of the Holy Spirit–the power that ignited the stunning growth of the early Church.

3__Does your church minimize sin, repentance, and hell and talk instead of love and peace? Does it teach that a good God would not send people to Hell?

4__Does your church use the methods of the world to draw people? For example, does your church use gimmicks like strobe lights, darkened sanctuaries, artificial smoke, and other worldly means to attract the younger generation? To my utter surprise, churches are now offering ear plugs to older folks who complain about the loud music. In my opinion, this is ridiculous and a terrible waste of God’s money when all they would have to do is turn down the volume button. My physician husband mentioned to me that many young people have partial hearing loss because of their frequent attendance at blaring rock concerts. So now church music must blare to accommodate their hearing loss.

5__Does your church approve of yoga, contemplative prayer, and walking the labyrinth as methods of drawing closer to God? Does your church teach goddess worship and adoration of the Queen of Heaven? These are practices associated with Eastern Mysticism, a philosophy that has infiltrated the Apostate Church.

6__Does your church teach “dominionism,” the false doctrine that man can make the world a better place through promoting a social Gospel? Does your church place more emphasis on social injustice than on issues like the imminent return of Christ in the Rapture, the Great Tribulation, and the final judgment of Christ?

7__Does your church teach that people are born homosexual and that homosexuality is an acceptable lifestyle? That transgenderism is acceptable? These teachings are in direct contradiction to God’s Word.

8__Does your church teach that there are many ways to Heaven besides Jesus? That all religions lead to God? Yes, all people will eventually face God, but only Christians will face His mercy. The rest will face His wrath.

9__Does your church teach that abortion is all right in some cases, like rape or incest? Or does it teach that abortion is murder in every case? Shockingly, some churches today are calling abortion “sacred!”

10__Does your church teach that the Church has replaced Israel? This false teaching is called “replacement theology” and has also infiltrated the Church. Beware of teachers who say that Israel has now been replaced by the Church.

We must ask these hard questions if we do not want to be sucked in by the Apostate Church. Pastors, in particular, must carefully examine the messages they are preaching to be certain they align with God’s Word. Also, pastors must review the videos they show to their congregations. Many of these videos are taught by prominent pastors and teachers who call themselves “evangelicals” but who are preaching a false doctrine to congregations all over the country. In reality, they are promoting apostate teachings that are undermining the Church.

The Bible teaches that each person must work out his own salvation in fear and trembling. This means that each of us is responsible for the teaching we listen to and the teaching we make our own. Measure everything—and I mean EVERYTHING–you hear and read by the standard of the Word of God. If it agrees with God’s Word, it is truth. If it does not agree with God’s Word, then reject it.

Jesus warned us that deception would run rampant in the last days. It is now upon us, so we must guard our hearts against it. It will only get worse until the return of our Lord at the Rapture. If you are in an apostate church, get out of it as fast as you can. To remain is to open yourself up to the possibility of losing your salvation.
