Hello and Happy Day! This is Dr. MaryAnn Diorio, novelist and life coach, welcoming you to another episode of Winning with the Word. Today is March 8, 2021, and this is Episode #5 of Series 2021. This episode is titled “The Privilege of Persecution.”

_______________________________

You may find the title of this week’s message a bit disconcerting, if not downright frightening. If so, I hear you!

But the truth is that the Body of Christ here in the United States will undergo persecution. Indeed, it has already begun. Thus far, it has been only “soft persecution” in the form of censorship, reviling, mocking, and ridicule. But in the days ahead, we will witness more severe persecution, as is happening to our brothers and sisters in countries like China, Iran, and, most recently, Myanmar.  Given the degeneration that has been occurring in America over the last five decades, it will not be long before the same type of persecution hits our shores in full force.

Why we in the American Church think that we are immune to persecution is a mystery to me, especially since we have opened the doors to persecution because we have not been salt and light in our nation. We have allowed the forces of darkness to take territory that we, the Church, should have protected.

Instead of overcoming the world, we have become like the world. We have embraced ideologies blatantly contrary to the Word of God, and yet, we expect God to bless us. This is deception at its most basic level.

Let the truth be told: the buck stops with the Church. Always! When the Church fails in its duty to stand up for righteousness, corruption always follows. As goes the Church, so goes the Culture.

Back in November, a prophetic word came forth in my church. The message was, “Prepare for the fire of persecution!”  The same prophetic message has come forth from other places in the Body of Christ. It is a warning from the Lord to get ourselves ready to face severe persecution for following Him.

As goes the Church, so goes the Culture.

How do we do that?

Here are some steps we can take to ensure that when full-blown persecution comes to Christ-followers here in the United States, we will be able to stand against it:

1. Cultivate your relationship with Jesus Christ. Be intentional about doing so. Cultivating a relationship with Jesus Christ means spending time in His Presence, worshipping Him, communing with Him, studying His Word.

2. Obey what the Holy Spirit tells you to do. Hearing the Word without obeying it leads to deception. James 1: 22 makes this clear: “Be doers of the word, and not hearers only. Otherwise, you are deceiving yourselves.”

3. Pray continually. Prayer is an ongoing conversation with God. It is the means by which we remain in contact with the Lord, the means by which we abide in Him. When we commune with God throughout the day, we receive a continual supply of all that we need to remain strong in the face of persecution.

Persecution is not a pleasant topic, but it is a topic we must address and a situation we must confront. We often quote Philippians 3: 10, that we want to know Christ and to experience His mighty power, the same power that raised Him from the dead. Yet, we often overlook the second part of that verse that speaks of suffering with Him. In order to know Christ, we must suffer with Christ. Indeed, how can we expect to reign and rule with Christ if we have not suffered with Him?

In order to know Christ, we must suffer with Christ.

To be persecuted for Christ is a great privilege. So great, in fact, that it carries with it a special crown in Heaven called the Crown of Life. This is the crown reserved for those who have undergone severe tribulation and even physical death for the cause of Christ. It is sometimes called “the martyr’s crown.”

Jesus Himself speaks of this crown in Revelation 2: 10: “Do not fear any of those things which you are about to suffer. Indeed, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and you will have tribulation ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.”

What a privilege and an honor it will be to receive the Crown of Life from the very hands of our Savior!

Yes, suffering persecution for Jesus Christ is a great privilege, the greatest of all privileges. As persecution against Christ-Followers increases in our land, I pray that you will count yourself worthy to suffer for our Lord Who paid the ultimate price of suffering for us so that we might live eternally with Him.

If you do not yet know the Lord, I urge you now to receive Him as Your Savior and Lord. Pray this simple prayer with me now:

Lord Jesus, I want to become like a little child so that I may enter Your Kingdom. But I know that I can do so only through You. So, I choose now to receive You as my personal Savior and the Lord of my life. Forgive me of my sins. Cleanse me of all unrighteousness. Give me Your grace to follow you as a little child all the days of my life. In Your Precious Name, I ask and receive. Amen.

If you prayed this prayer sincerely, please write to me at drmaryann@maryanndiorio.com. I would like to send you a free e-booklet that will help you get started in your walk with Christ. I also encourage you to get yourself a Bible and read it every single day. The Bible is God’s love letter to you, His manual for your life. In the Bible, God reveals Who He is, and He teaches you how to live.

Finally, ask the Lord to lead you to the church of His choice for you where you can learn about Him and have fellowship and encouragement with other Christ-Followers. It is critically important in these last days to fellowship with other believers who are mature in Christ and can guide you as you grow in Him.

Featured Book of the Week:  THE IRON SAINT by MaryAnn Diorio, PhD

The Church in America is on the verge of a tremendous spiritual awakening, an awakening that will first be fueled by persecution unlike anything we have ever seen before in this land. Indeed, a prophetic word given in my home church during the month of November gave this warning to the Church: “Prepare for the fire of persecution!”

But the Church is not ready for this persecution. For the most part, the Church in America has been weak and lukewarm. Flabby and lazy. Consumed with the world and not with the things of God. As a result, the Church has been deceived and has subverted the divine order of things.

In THE IRON SAINT, Dr. MaryAnn Diorio seeks to help equip the saints for the work of true, integritous, and effective ministry. As a teacher in the Body of Christ, it is her burning desire to help correct this devastating error.

In THE IRON SAINT, Dr. Diorio has outlined a plan of action for strengthening the Church through uncompromising obedience to the Word of God. This plan of action is based on her own 50 years of walking with the Lord and being led by His Holy Spirit.

If you are a born-again believer and member of the Body of Christ, make this book a top reading priority.

Hello and Happy Day! This is Dr. MaryAnn Diorio, novelist and life coach, welcoming you to another episode of Winning with the Word. Today is March 1, 2021, and this is Episode #4 of Series 2021. This episode is titled “Unless You Become like Little Children”

_______________________________
In a very telling story in the Gospel of Matthew, Chapter 18, Jesus called a little child from the crowd and placed the child in the midst of the people. Then Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, unless you turn from your sins and become like little children, you will never get into the Kingdom of Heaven” (Matthew 18: 3).

This is a pretty serious statement made by Jesus Himself. It behooves us, therefore, to take strict heed.

What does it mean to become like little children? Let’s take a look at some of the characteristics of children:

1. Children are naturally humble. They don’t have to try to be humble; they just are. They don’t act as though they are better than anyone else. They are accepting of others, with no strings attached. When we are proud and boastful and think the world owes us something, we are not acting like children.

2. Children are not intimidating. We are not afraid of them. They are approachable, and they invite relationship. When we become threatening to others and unapproachable, we are not acting like children.

3. Children are free of guile. That is, they do not pretend to be what they are not. They do not put on airs. With children, what you see is what you get.  Is the same true of us?

4. Children make poor liars. They are open books. If a child lies, he is easily found out because his facial expression and guilty mannerism reveal the lie. Are we open books to others, or do we try to hide and deceive?

5. Children are unassuming. They don’t care about social status, the impression they make, the clothes they wear. They don’t care about skin color or financial status. They freely accept others for who they are and do not judge them. When we ascribe value to others based on their financial status, their looks, or their skin color, we are not acting like children.

Jesus taught that becoming like a little child requires conversion. In other words, it requires a turning away from pride and embracing humility. It is not in our human nature to be humble. We naturally gravitate toward pride. But in order to become like a little child, we must renounce pride and embrace humility.

In Matthew 18: 4, Jesus also said that whoever humbles himself like a little child would be the greatest in the kingdom of Heaven. I believe that what Jesus was pointing out here is that whereas pride is the foundation of destruction, humility is the foundation of greatness.

There is only one way to become like a little child, and that is, to accept Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord. In His life we see exhibited every one of the beautiful qualities that comprise the heart of a child. When you receive Him, you receive the qualities of childlikeness.

If you have not yet accepted Christ as your Savior and Lord, pray this simple prayer with me now:

Lord Jesus, I want to become like a little child so that I may enter Your Kingdom. But I know that I can do so only through You. So, I choose now to receive You as my personal Savior and the Lord of my life. Forgive me of my sins. Cleanse me of all unrighteousness. Give me Your grace to follow you as a little child all the days of my life. In Your Precious Name, I ask and receive. Amen.

Hello and Happy Day! This is Dr. MaryAnn Diorio, novelist and life coach, welcoming you to another episode of Winning with the Word. Today is February 22, 2021, and this is Episode #3 of Series 2021. This episode is titled “How to Receive from God”.

Most of us Christians spend our lives going after something we already have.

We ask God to do something that He has already done for us ((e.g., heal, deliver, provide) or to give us something that He has already given us.

We rightly believe that God CAN do anything, but we don’t believe that He HAS ALREADY DONE everything.

When we study the Book of Ephesians, however, we notice a critically important truth: Everything has already been accomplished in Christ and given to us.

Ephesians 1: 3: “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ.”

This verse tells us that God has blessed us with all spiritual blessings and that those blessings are found in heavenly places in Christ. These heavenly places signify the spiritual realm, So, all of the blessings that God has already given us are located in the spiritual realm.

Well, where is the spiritual realm? For the born-again believer, the spiritual realm is the realm of his spirit because the Holy Spirit lives in the born-again believer’s spirit. The job of the Christ-Follower is to retrieve the blessings that are in his spirit–in other words, in the supernatural, spiritual part of him–and bring these blessings out into the natural, physical realm.

But how do we do that?

Here are three simple steps that will help you to bring the blessings Jesus died to give you–the blessings that are already in your spirit–out into your daily life. Notice, I said these steps are simple, not easy.

  1. BELIEVE that what God says about you is true.
  2. SPEAK what God says about you. That is, speak His Word.
  3. ACT as though what God says about you is true.

Let’s unpack each one of these.

1__BELIEVE that what God says about you is true.

Here are some things God says about you in His Word:

__Luke 10: 19 NLT: “Look, I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy, and you can walk among snakes and scorpions and crush them. Nothing will injure you.”

If you are a born-again follower of Jesus Christ, He has given you all authority over the power of Satan. Using the Name of Jesus, you can drive Satan and all of his demons out of your life.  Do you believe this?

__Romans 8: 37 – “Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.”

If you are a born-again follower of Jesus Christ, you are more than a conqueror in every situation. This means not only that you have the authority and power to overcome Satan, but you also can take back what he has stolen from you.

__1 Peter 2: 24 – “By the stripes of Jesus, you were healed.”

If you are a born-again follower of Jesus Christ, He gave you healing in exchange for your sickness when He took the stripes on His back just before His crucifixion. Do you believe this?

__Galatians 3: 13 NIV – “Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us . . . .”

If you are a born-again follower of Jesus Christ, He took from you every curse–the curse of sickness, the curse of addiction, the curse of alcoholism, the curse of fear, the curse of mental illness—every single curse.  Do you believe this?

So, receiving from God requires first that we believe that what He says about us is true–that what He did for us is true.

2__SPEAK what God says about us.

Proverbs 18: 21 NIV tells us that “The tongue has the power of life and death.”  What we say controls our future and our destiny. Are you saying about yourself and your circumstances what God says about you and your circumstances? If not, you are missing the boat big time. Repent and start speaking what God says about you.

When we speak, we create with our words. Given this truth, isn’t it wise for us to be careful what we speak? When we speak what God speaks about us, it will come to pass.

3__ACT as though what God says about us is true.

James 2: 26 NIV: “Faith without works is dead.”  Works give life to our faith just as the spirit gives life to the body. A body without a spirit is simply a corpse. It is not alive and functioning. Likewise, faith without action is not alive and functioning.

We must back up our faith with corresponding actions that prove we have faith. We must act as though we are healed, delivered, provided for, and so forth. We must place more stock in what God says than in what the doctor says, or our body says, or the checkbook says, or our emotions say. This is the way to victory.

So, to sum up, in order to receive from God we must BELIEVE, SPEAK, and ACT the way God believes, speaks, and acts. We must believe that what God says is true. We must speak in agreement with what God says. And we must act as though what God says is true.

When we do these three things on a consistent basis, we will begin to experience the abundant life that Jesus Christ paid the ultimate price of His very life to give us.

NOTE: You may have heard that in every example I gave above, I mentioned that these blessings are for born-again followers of Jesus Christ. In order to receive these blessings, you must be a part of God’s family.

How do you become a part of God’s family? By receiving Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord.

If you have not yet accepted Christ as your Savior and Lord, pray this simple prayer with me now:

Lord Jesus, I want to experience the abundant life You died to give me. But I know that I must first join Your family by receiving You as my Savior and Lord. So, I choose to do so now. I choose to receive You as my personal Savior and the Lord of my life. Forgive me of my sins. Cleanse me of all unrighteousness. Give me Your grace to follow you all the days of my life. I ask and receive in Your Precious Name. Amen.

How Hungry Are You?

by Dr. MaryAnn Diorio

WINNING WITH THE WORD
November 2, 2020

What we hunger after reveals the god or gods of our lives. In common parlance, these gods are called “idols”. Today we don’t usually worship golden calves as idols (although some do). Instead, we worship habits and hobbies, people and places, money and ministries.

But there is only one God Who can satisfy our hunger, and that God is the Lord.

How hungry are you for Him?

Are you hungry enough to seek Him above all else? To put Him first in your daily life? To desire a deep relationship with Him above all else?

Too often, we allow the distractions of the world to draw us away from building a relationship with God. This is one of Satan’s most subtle tactics, and one of his most dangerous ones. Yet, there is nothing more important to our well-being than a personal relationship with God the Father through Jesus Christ.

Why?

Because we were made for Him, and, as Augustine said, we will find no rest until we rest in Him.

So, how do we seek God above all else? Here are some ways:

1. PURPOSE in your heart to seek God above all else.  Anything worth doing begins with a resolve to do it. The same is true of seeking God. We must decide to seek God and then commit to our decision.

2. PRACTICE the disciplines that go along with seeking God. Those disciplines are prayer, Bible study, and worship. Prayer is a two-way conversation with God in which He does most of the talking. The Bible is God’s manual for living. We need to study it diligently in order to learn how to deal with the challenges of life. Worship is laying our hearts at the feet of God, recognizing His Lordship in our lives.

3. PROCLAIM His goodness wherever you go. We are called to preach the Gospel in all of its power. This is the Great Commission. As we tell others about Jesus, we are hungering after God.

When we hunger after God, our hunger will be satisfied. And when our hunger is satisfied, we will know joy and peace.

What about you? Are you hungering after God? Perhaps you do not even know God. If this describes you, pray this simple prayer with me now:

Lord Jesus, I want to know You. I receive You now as my Savior and Lord. Forgive me of my sin. Cleanse me of all unrighteousness. Give me Your grace to follow you all the days of my life. Thank You for satisfying my hunger for You. I ask and receive in Your precious Name. Amen.

If you prayed this prayer, please write to me at drmaryann@maryanndiorio.com. I would like to send you a little booklet that will help you get started in your walk with Christ. I also encourage you to get yourself a Bible and read it every single day. The Bible is God’s love letter to you, His manual for your life. In the Bible, God reveals Who He is, and He instructs you how to live.

Finally, ask the Lord to lead you to the church of His choice for you where you can learn about Him and have fellowship and encouragement with other Christ-Followers.

Hello and Happy Day! This is Dr. MaryAnn Diorio, Novelist and Life Coach, welcoming you to another episode of Winning with the Word. Today is Monday, October 5, 2020. Today’s Podcast is Episode #37 in Series 2020 and is titled “How to Endure to the End”.

_______________________________________________

Jesus warned us that in the last days, perilous times would come upon the earth. We are living in those times now.  For the past seven months we have endured lockdowns, masks, financial setbacks and loss of livelihoods, not to mention constant reminders of a deadly virus that has wreaked havoc everywhere we turn.  People have grown weary, disillusioned, and hopeless.

But we who are the Body of Christ must stand strong in these challenging times. We cannot afford to grow weary or hopeless because our Lord is depending on us to keep shining the light of Truth to an increasingly darkening world.  Jesus in us is the Hope of the world.  Without hope, there can be no faith, and people need faith in Christ.

So, how are you enduring? If you’ve slipped behind in endurance, here are a few tips to get you back on track:

1. Pray. To endure to the end, we need to stay connected to God. One of the best ways we do this is through prayer. Prayer is a two-way conversation with our Heavenly Father in which He should do most of the talking and we should do most of the listening. Prayer is not a laundry list of what we want or need from From. Prayer is asking God what He needs from us.

2. Immerse yourself in God’s Word. God’s Word is our daily bread. We need to eat of it in order not only to survive but also to thrive. To immerse ourselves in God’s Word means to read it every day, to memorize it, to meditate on it. We need God’s Word so to permeate our hearts and minds that it becomes our automatic response to every situation.

3. Renew your mind according to the Word. Perilous times require straight-thinking. There isn’t much of that these days because people have abandoned the Truth and received the lie.  But we Christ-followers must stand strong in the truth. We are admonished to put on the “belt of truth”.  Truth protects us from deception and keeps us thinking straight so that we make wise decisions.

4. Stay in close fellowship with other Christ-Followers.  Now more than ever, we need one another. To go it alone is to court danger and deception. Let us stay closer than ever before to Christ and to one another.

The Lord is counting on us to fulfill the Great Commission in these last days. If you need to be reminded of what that is, read Mark 16: 15-18.  This is the work that we as the Church are called to do in these perilous times.

If you do not yet have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, I urge you to start one now. Pray this simple prayer with me:

Lord Jesus, I desire to have a relationship with You. I invite You into my life. I receive You now as my Savior and as my Lord. Forgive me of my sin. Cleanse me from all unrighteousness. Give me Your grace to follow you, to deny myself, and to obey you all the days of my life. I ask and receive in Your precious Name. Amen.

If you prayed this simple prayer, please write to me at drmaryann@maryanndiorio.com.
