Rudeness. Ruthlessness. Rebellion. We are witnessing all three in our culture today in proportions that were unimaginable less than a decade ago. Why is this happening, and what is the real cause?

In the second Book of Thessalonians, the Apostle Paul gives us the reason for the unbridled lawlessness we are now seeing all around us:

“For the secret power of lawlessness is already at work; but the one who now holds it back will continue to do so till he is taken out of the way. And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will overthrow with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendor of his coming. The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan works. He will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders that serve the lie, and all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.” -2 Thessalonians 2: 7-12 NLT.

Notice this part of the verse: “The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan works.” This statement tells us that lawlessness is directly related to Satan.

Lawlessness is the result of rebellion. Satan fell from his position as Chief Worshipper in Heaven because he rebelled against God. All lawlessness proceeds from Satan and is instigated by him. In a land that has turned its back on God, it is no wonder that lawlessness is increasing. If lawlessness is the fruit of rebellion, then rebellion in our country is increasing because lawlessness is increasing.

“A culture that rejects Truth is doomed to destruction.” – Dr. MaryAnn Diorio

Paul notes that people become lawless when they refuse to love the truth and to be saved by it (v. 10b). Our culture has rejected truth and is now suffering the consequences of doing so. In my 48 years of walking with Jesus, I have learned these four things about Truth:

__Truth never changes.
__Truth is universal and applies to all people in all places and at all times of history.
__Truth offends.
__Truth alone sets us free.

A culture that rejects truth is doomed to destruction. We in America have, as a society, rejected Truth. Such rejection is rebellion, and rebellion leads to lawlessness.

The Word of God prophesies that the spirit of lawlessness will be unleashed in greater measure during the last days. We are witnessing the fulfillment of that prophecy before our very eyes. Only while the Church is still here will the spirit of lawlessness be restrained from being completely unleashed. After the Rapture, when the Church is removed from the earth, the spirit of lawlessness will be unleashed in all of its raw fury with the rise of the AntiChrist and his globalist takeover.

If you have not yet accepted Jesus Christ as Your Savior and Lord, do so now! Click here to learn how.

Jesus said this about Himself: “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me”(John 14: 6). To accept Jesus is to accept Truth.

Prayer for Today: Lord God, I pray for all those reading this that You would touch their hearts with the truth of Your Word. If they do not yet know You, I ask that You would reveal Yourself to them in a way that they would understand. I thank You, Lord, that, when all is said and done, Truth will win out over evil. In Jesus’ Name. Amen!

HOW TO RECOGNIZE PRIDE IN YOUR LIFE

PRIDE. How do we know if we’re guilty of it. By its very nature, pride does not see itself. So, let’s ask ourselves these seven questions to determine if there is pride in our lives. And if there is, let’s repent and drive it out in the Name of Jesus:

1–Is there strife in my life? “Where there is strife, there is pride” (Proverbs 13: 10a). Strife is always the fruit of pride. Indeed, there can be no strife unless pride enters first. As we eliminate pride from our lives, we will eliminate strife as well.

2–Is there fear or worry in my life? Fear and worry reveal my toxic reliance on myself instead of on God. Fear and worry reveal that I want control because I think I can handle things better than God. This is pride.

3–Do I worry about what people think of me? The Bible says that people-pleasers cannot serve God because they are more concerned about what others think of them than about what God thinks of them: “If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ’s servant” (Galatians 1: 10). Whenever we elevate man above God, we are guilty of pride.

4–Do I have an “entitlement mentality”? Do I think that the world owes me something? Do I think I deserve to have this or that? The truth is we deserve nothing but Hell were it not for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. An entitlement mentality is a clear sign of pride.

5–Do I think I”m better than someone else? Pride exalts itself and diminishes others. The Bible says this: “Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves” (Philippians 2: 3).

6–Am I a hypocrite? In other words, do I act one way at home and another way in public? “But they do all their deeds to be noticed by men….” (Matthew 23: 5). This, again is pride.

7–Do I resist submitting to God-given authority? Do I buck my husband, my boss, my pastor, my parents? Do I refuse to submit to them or do I give them a hard time? Let’s remember this word of the Lord: “Rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft” (1 Samuel 15: 23).

Every day I must examine myself for signs of pride. It is an insidious sin and the one that got Adam and Eve expelled from the Garden of Eden. They questioned God’s integrity, deeming that they knew better than God. To question God’s integrity is pride–plain and simple.

My Prayer for Us Today: “May God reveal to us any areas of pride in our lives, and may He give us the grace to renounce it once and for all.”

Now, it’s YOUR turn: Do you struggle with pride? If so, how do you overcome it? Please leave your valued comment in the box below.

How to Live in a World Gone Crazy

Strategies for Overcoming

Guard your heart above all else, for it determines
the course of your life.” ~ Proverbs 4:23

______________________________________

We don’t have to be rocket scientists to recognize that something has gone drastically wrong with our world. To those who are unaware, the terror and evil around us could incite fear. But for those of us who follow Jesus, we know exactly what is going on.

At the root of every evil in the world is sin. But, of course, the concept of sin is no longer recognized as valid by our culture. So how can we blame sin for our troubles?

Riot protest fist raised in the air. Male clenched fist on dark grunge background.

The truth is that sin–especially the root sin of rebellion–is the cause of our crazy world situation. We no longer want to follow God’s ways. We want to follow our own ways. In fact, we don’t even acknowledge that God exists. When we deny that God exists, we are left to our own devices, left to be our own gods. This spells BIG TROUBLE!

From the days of Adam and Eve, the world has lived in rebellion. We are more aware of it now because of our advanced communication technology that enables us to know instantaneously that an incident has occurred on the other side of the globe.

So how can we live in a world gone crazy? Here are some proven steps you can take starting now:

1-Decide you will obey God at all costs. This means even at the cost of your life. It may come to that for those of us who follow Jesus.

2-Decide you will not live in fear. God has not given us a spirit of fear. Followers of Jesus walk in power, in love, and in soundness of mind (2 Timothy 1:7), truths that those who reject Jesus cannot comprehend.

3-Decide you will walk in love. Love is the greatest weapon of all in defeating evil. Love will overcome fear, drive out darkness, and prevail in the end. Love will never fail (I Corinthians 13: 8).

Jesus foretold that there would be perilous times. We are living in them. How exciting to be a part of our Lord’s great plan during these last days before His return! May we be ever faithful to Him in proclaiming His Word. He promised that it will not return void, but it will accomplish God’s purposes in the earth (Isaiah 55: 11).

Submission: Blessing or Bane?

Guard your heart above all else, for it determines
the course of your life.” ~ Proverbs 4:23
______________________________________

Submission. To many, it’s a dirty word. But to one who understands its true meaning, submission protects and brings blessings.

What, exactly, is submission? Simply put, submission can be defined as a willingness to function under the authority of another.

concept of religion. Silhouette of a man praying before a cross at sunset

Where does the concept of submission originate? It originates in the Godhead Itself, where the Son willingly submits to the Father. We see, therefore, that submission is inherent in God’s design for social order. Submission, in short, is a divine attribute of God, an attribute that He commands us to emulate and implement in our own lives.

Submission is at the core of healthful relationships. Children submit to parents. The wife submits to the husband who has been ordained by God as the head of the family. Employees submit to employers.Without such submission to authority, there would be chaos in our society.

Submission, however, has boundaries. For example, we must not submit in matters of sin.  Nor does submission mean being a doormat and allowing an authority figure to abuse us. On the contrary, submission must be a free act of the will and rendered out of respect for the office of the person in authority.

Notice I said the “office” of the person in authority, not necessarily the “person” in authority.  For example, my employer may be living an immoral life. In such a case, I do not have to respect his lifestyle, but I must respect the office he holds as my employer.

What should we do when the person in authority over us is making a decision that will be to our detriment? In such a case, we should appeal to the higher authority.  In the workplace, this may be a supervisor above one’s boss.  In the family, where the husband is the authority, a wife should appeal to God, the Higher Authority.

Satan has perpetrated a lie about submission, a lie that has led to rebellion and the breakdown of the family, the church, and society, in general. When we understand submission from God’s point of view, we will discover that it is a great gift for bringing order out of chaos.

Most of all, our Lord’s submission to the will of His Father resulted in eternal life for all of us.  Had Jesus refused to submit, we would be doomed to eternal damnation.  Let us thank Him for submitting His will to the will of the Father, and let us ask His Help in submitting our wills to those in authority over us.
