How to Turn Your Test into Your Testimony

Pursuing Your Victory

“Guard your heart above all else, for it determines
the course of your life.” ~ Proverbs 4:23

Like any good parent, our loving Heavenly Father wants His children to mature.  The process of maturity requires testing.

A test is a measurement of your spiritual growth.  A test is not a punishment.  It is an opportunity to fulfill our call as followers of Yeshua to enforce God’s Kingdom on the earth.

When a test comes–as it surely will–our response to the test will determine whether or not we pass the test. If we respond in the Spirit, we will pass the test. If we respond in the flesh, we will fail the test.

In every test lies the seed of victory and the seed of failure.  What seed sprouts depends on how we respond to the test.

Respond in such a way that your test will become your testimony of God’s power manifested in your life.

You Are MORE Than a Conqueror!

Enforcing the Kingdom of God Right Where You Are

“Guard your heart above all else, for it determines
the course of your life.” ~ Proverbs 4:23

The greatest battle you will ever wage as a Christian is the battle in your mind. In fact, that is the only battle you will ever wage. All battles, whether physical or spiritual, are won or lost in the the mind. But the good news is that you enter that battle with the victory already in hand because of what Jesus Christ did for you through His death and resurrection.

Your job as a follower of Jesus Christ is not to win the battle against Satan; Jesus Christ already did that. Your job is to enforce the victory that Christ has already won against Satan.

Your job is not to conquer Satan. Your job is to take back what he has stolen from you by enforcing Kingdom law.

If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and Lord, you are His ambassador in the earth realm.  As such, you possess all the power and authority you will ever need to rule in this earth.  Wasn’t that God’s mandate to Adam and Eve from the very beginning–to take dominion over the earth and to subdue it (Genesis 1:28)?  This does not mean that we are to take dominion over the people of the earth but over the demonic spirits that rule the earth. We are also to take dominion over the animals, fish, and natural resources of the earth and use them for God’s glory. In short, we are to bring God’s Kingdom into the earth.

Jesus Himself taught us to pray to the Father like this: “Your Kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is done in Heaven” (Matthew 6:10).  Well, God’s mandate still stands, but it can be obeyed only by the born-again believer.  Only followers of Christ have His power and authority dwelling within them to enforce the laws of His heavenly kingdom in our earthly one.

So, how do we enforce God’s Kingdom in the earth? By believing and speaking His Word into every situation that requires our doing so.

The Word of God is the instrument of enforcement.  Scripture calls it the “sword of the Spirit” (Ephesians 6:17).  We are commanded by God to wield that sword in our quest to rout the enemy from our earthly domain. And the way we wield the sword of the Spirit is by proclaiming it aloud.

So, the next time Satan tries to bully you in an attempt to make you think you are defeated, turn on him with the sword of the Spirit.  Speak it aloud to him, just as Jesus did when Satan tempted him in the desert.  Three times Jesus repeated, “It is written. It is written. It is written.”  Eventually, Satan fled at the speaking of the Word of God.

Your job as a follower of Jesus Christ is not to win the battle against Satan; Jesus Christ already did that. Your job is to enforce the victory that Christ has already won against Satan.

Satan must flee at the Word of God. Satan is powerless before the Word of God. As we keep our eyes focused on the Word and not on the circumstances of our lives, and as we believe that what God says in His Word is true, the Word will produce the fruit of its promise.

Every single time!

Faith Is the Victory

One of the hymns I most remember from my early days as a Christian says that “faith is the victory that overcomes the world.” As writers, we know what it is like to have the world constantly pressing in on us. Health issues, relationship issues, family issues, financial issues try to stop us at every turn from fulfilling God’s call on us to write. So how do we handle these issues?  The answer is “By faith”.

Just as it takes faith to obey Christ’s call to write for Him, It also takes faith to persevere in Christ’s call to write for Him.  Our enemy Satan and his demons are continually seeking to get us off course from the purpose God intended for our writing.  A case in point:  my husband recently had to undergo emergency bypass surgery, a situation that cut deeply into my writing time.  By faith, I placed the situation in our Lord’s hands, trusting that He would provide me with the time I needed to fulfill His call.  As always, He has been faithful in helping me to meet deadlines.

What are you facing today that may be hindering your writing?  Place it in God’s hands and keep pressing onward. Our Lord knows your difficult situation, and He will bring you through it.  You will emerge a stronger person and, because of what you learn through your experience, a better writer.
