Hello and Happy Day! Welcome to another episode of Winning with the Word. I’m your host, Dr. MaryAnn Diorio, and I’m excited that you have joined me today. This week’s message is titled “The God-Kind of Faith.”
If you’ve ever prayed a long time for something and did not receive an answer, the problem may be your faith. One thing I’ve learned during my more than 50 years of walking with Jesus is that if there is a problem with my not receiving from God, the problem is never with God. It’s always with me.
And the problem is usually that I am in unbelief.
Years ago, Brother Kenneth Hagin described what the Bible calls “the God-kind of faith.” In Mark 11: 22 KJV, Jesus gave us a fascinating command. He said, “Have the faith of God.” Some translations render this as “Have the God-kind of faith.”
When I first read that in the King James translation, I thought to myself, How can I have the faith of God? I am not God.
But as I dug into the Word, I began to understand.
If we look at this verse in context, we see that Jesus had just demonstrated the God-kind of faith by cursing the fig tree and commanding it to dry up from the roots. The very next day, our Lord’s faith had accomplished exactly what He had said to the fig tree. It had dried up from the roots.
When Peter pointed this fact out to Jesus, Jesusresponded by saying, “Have the God-kind of faith.” Jesus was saying that what He did, we can do also, if you simply have the faith of God.
Well, you might be thinking, Dr. MaryAnn, Jesus was God. I’m not. So how can I possibly have God’s faith?
The truth is that you can. When Jesus walked the earth, He did not operate out of His divinity. He had put that aside. Look at Philippians 2: 6: “Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross.”
So, when Jesus was on earth, he operated as a man. In so doing, He wanted to show us that we, too, who are born again can do the same. We can operate in the same power and authority in which Jesus operated when He was here on earth.
That means we can have the God-kind of faith. We can operate in the same faith of God in which Jesus operated.
So how do we do that?
Brother Hagin pointed out three Biblical principles for operating in the faith of God.
1) We must believe in our heart. Faith is generated in the heart, not in the head or mind. To agree with the Word of God simply with our mind is to give only mental assent to it. We must believe in our heart that God’s Word is true and forever settled in Heaven. We must stake our lives on it in order to receive from God.
2) We must speak with our mouth what we believe in our heart. Proverbs 18: 21 tells us that “death and life are in the power of the tongue.” What we speak about our situation is critically important.
Let’s take healing, for example. Too often, I hear people taking ownership of disease. They say things like “my bursitis, my cancer, my diabetes”, etc. This is a very dangerous practice. If you are a Christ-Follower sickness and disease are no longer part of who you are. They have been removed from your born-again nature just as much as sin has been removed from it. In fact, your born-again nature is a totally new creation. Old things, your old nature has passed away.
3) When we believe in our heart and speak what we believe with our mouth, then what we believe for comes to pass in our lives. This is the result of the God-kind of faith. We receive what God has promised.
Are you facing a seemingly impossible challenge today? If so, take heart. Nothing is impossible with God (Luke 1: 37). Find God’s promise in the Bible that relates to your situation. Then believe it in your heart, speak it with your mouth, and watch it come to pass in your life. In so doing, you will be operating in the God-kind of faith.
If you are not yet a follower of Jesus Christ, I urge you to become one now. He is coming back to remove from the earth all those who follow Him. Those left behind will endure the horrific suffering of the seven-year period that the Bible calls the Tribulation under the brutal dictatorship of the AntiChrist. You do not want to be here for that.
Pray this simple prayer with me now:
Lord Jesus, I need You. I cannot save myself, although I’ve tried many times. But it will never work. So I receive You now as my Savior and Lord. Thank You for saving me. Thank you for taking the punishment for my sin. Make me like You. In Your Name I pray. Amen.
If you sincerely prayed this prayer from your heart, you are now a born-again child of God. Welcome to the Family of God! Write to me at drmaryann@maryanndiorio.com, and I will send you a free PDF booklet titled After You’re Born Again.
